GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 666465
NetworkManager forgets network password
Last modified: 2012-07-09 15:02:32 UTC
I am a Fedora KDE user. Knetworkmanager forgets a lot of wifi passwords, not 100% of them, but a lot of them. I opened a bugreport in KDE bugzilla, and after some weeks the bugreport has been closed and I have been told to open a gnome bugreport about NetworkManager This is my original bugreport https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=286289 that has been marked as duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284155 Networkmanager version: 0.9.2
Quoting from https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284155 comment 7: > The plasma NM version used by Ubuntu is too old, there have been a lot of > changes in password handling since June. Ubuntu 11.10 seems to ship network-manager-kde (1:0.9~svngit.nm09.20110610.0c83d8-0ubuntu5) and plasma-widget-networkmanagement (0.9~svngit.nm09.20110610.0c83d8-0ubuntu5). So was this actually tested with a ***recent*** Plasma NM version 0.8.90 or newer and reproduced with such a version? If not then my guess is that it's an Ubuntu downstream issue (as they ship an ancient version), and not actually an issue to be considered UPSTREAM (yet) in GNOME Bugzilla where this was just filed.
From https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=284155 : "According to the links above this problem als happens with nm-applet in Ubuntu and Sabyon, so it is not restricted to Ubuntu or Plasma NM. It is very likely the problem is in NetworkManager itself, that is why I marked it as upstream."
On Fedora 17 the problem is no longer happening. Can we close it?
