Description Reda Lazri 2011-12-07 18:36:57 UTC
Subtitles take some extra seconds to catch up if I jump forward in a video. And completely disappear if I go back.
Comment 1 Tim-Philipp Müller 2012-09-29 16:48:11 UTC
This is with what application? Totem?

What's the output of:

 $ gst-inspect-0.10 playbin2 | grep Version
Comment 2 Mondane 2012-09-30 08:38:34 UTC
I have the problem using Totem, the output of gst-inspect is:

  Version: 0.10.36
Comment 3 Reda Lazri 2012-10-13 13:14:41 UTC
Version:	0.10.36
Comment 4 Reda Lazri 2012-10-13 13:15:30 UTC
And yes, Totem. :)
Comment 5 Edward Hervey 2013-07-17 15:47:58 UTC
Is this still an issue with GStreamer 1.x ?
Comment 6 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2013-07-17 16:07:06 UTC
I wouldn't know why this would've changed. Sparse stream handling is still suboptimal
Comment 7 Reda Lazri 2013-07-29 14:04:46 UTC
GNOME 3.8, same problem.

Does this happen with any file or only a particular file or filetype?

I don't remember seeing this with recent versions. Subtitles would only disappear for a while when switching subtitle tracks.

I can see this pretty often with totem with srt files. All you have to do is go back in the video a few times using arrow key.
Comment 11 Victor Toso 2016-05-10 20:47:55 UTC
I can reproduce quite easily playing mkv + loading a srt subtitles. Sometimes going back makes the subtitles disapear entirely; they might come back *if* i go back once more or *if* I go forward.

Not sure why, with command [0], the bug never happens. I screen casts showing that I'm not crazy :)

[0] GST_DEBUG=6 totem video-file.mkv > debug 2>&1

On Fedora 23, gstreamer is 1.6.4
