devhelp: change ShowSearchTab key to ctrl+K
Last modified: 2013-07-07 10:44:11 UTC
To be consistent with web browsers, ctrl+K should be used to start searching by keyword instead of ctrl+S (which is difficult to guess...)
Created attachment 202741 [details] [review] devhelp: change ShowSearchTab key to ctrl+K Firefox and Chromium use ctrl+K as the keyboard shortcut for doing a web search. This also makes sense as a shortcut for searching based on keywords.
I'd prefer ctrl+F, to be consistent with (at least) epiphany and gedit.
I think we're talking about different features. ctrl+F searches the text on the page. ctrl+K moves focus to the "search engine" search box.
This change got includes in the following commit: http://git.gnome.org/browse/devhelp/commit/?id=fcca646f9fce4ddca9a706e96dc6c52e862a6d29 This problem has been fixed in our software repository. The fix will go into the next software release. Thank you for your bug report.
Comment on attachment 202741 [details] [review] devhelp: change ShowSearchTab key to ctrl+K Obsoleted this patch.
this is very disruptive, why did you remove ctrl-s? I never used ctrl-k anywhere... also, iirc, / used to work, that was very convenient too. Please reconsider.
admitedly, I use ctrl-k in browser, sorry. However I don't see the need for ctrl-s to be removed.
