In LM Lisa RC, most of the application names in Gnome 3 search screen are truncated.
For example: Update Manager --> Update M...

As a side note: a bit of description of the functionality of an application would be great

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find.

As for the descriptions, I think they were considered at some point but the designers weren't too found of them. You might want to ask on #gnome-shell (or open a new bug just about that).
