GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 662996
Management of the windows buggy
Last modified: 2011-10-29 14:31:53 UTC
I regularly face problems with the management of windows : going to the overlay mode shows the problem quite clearly (see attached video). In particular, some windows belonging to other desktops show up when activating the overlay mode. Sometimes, only the inner part of the windows shows up at the wrong place, which looks even more strange. This is quite problematic as management of windows should be cristal-clear : how can I trust the system that it takes care of the programs I'm working with correctly if sometimes I see my programs distorted or not at the good place? Note also that gnome-shell restarted right after I stopped the recording of the video. Running Ubuntu 11.10 64bits + gnome-shell on macbook pro.

Did you forget to attach the video? > Running Ubuntu 11.10 64bits + gnome-shell on macbook pro. Anyway, this sounds very much like a dup of bug 661419 (e.g. some Ubuntu fsck-up wrt gconfd/libgconf). Please verify that your .xsession-errors does not contain warnings like in the aforementioned bug.
Thanks for the report. That's a duplicate of bug 661419, which is fixed in GNOME 3.2.1. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 661419 ***
Thanks for the quick answer! Sorry I forgot the video. I'm now installing gnome 3.2.1. I'll see if that solves the problem and get back to you in case it doesn't. Cheers!
