Description Vincent Beers 2011-10-24 12:21:37 UTC
Hello, I have an enhancement suggestion for the file items that appear in the Gnome panel, like the recent items.

It would be nice if I could right-click the items so I can tell it to open with a specific application (perhaps with a hook to the Nautilus file properties?).

I request this because I found that sometimes there's two (or more) common actions I'd want to do on a file. For example, for an image file I'd want to be able to view it or to be able to edit it. Other examples include opening a HTML file in a browser vs editing it in the text editor, or opening an exe file in Wine vs in an archiving tool.

In any case, it would be nice if the "common applications" for a MIME type could be used here (just like the context menu in Nautilus).

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
