Description Ionut Biru 2011-09-05 11:14:32 UTC
When gdm 3.1.90 is using the plain old interface because 3d is not accessible, after login in a gnome fallback mode, metacity exists successfully after couples of seconds.

This happens because metacity is running under gdm user and is not exist after starting user session. gnome-session sees that metacity is available and doesn't start a new one.

gdm 3.1.90
metacity 2.34.1-1
gnome-session 3.1.91-1

The way the greeter session is started changed quite a bit with commit 647cad5bf59a

We probably introduced a race condition in session termination logic or so.

a lot of discussion for this has happened in another bug so i'm going to dupe this one to the other one.
