GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 658212
Loan Repayment Calculator gives bad information
Last modified: 2018-06-29 23:00:40 UTC
According to the about page, I am running GnuCash 2.4.5 build from r20528M on 2011-04-12. Steps to reproduce. 1. click Tools -> Loan Repayment Calculator 2. Set the following (in case it is not obvious, I am using US punctuation) Payment Periods: Blank Interest Rate: 8.5 Present Value: 11,000 Periodic Payment: -5,000.00 Future Value: 0 Compounding I left at the default (Discrete Monthly) Period I left at the default (End Monthly) 3. Click Calculate. You should receive a payment period of 2 and total payment of -10,000 What is wrong with this answer? That does not match the "Future Value"! The Future value will be 0 in this scenario when a total of $11,128.91 has been paid over a 3 month period (last month being $1,128.91). I would love to get into how awful making the payment negative is (just a new label or *-1 would fix that.). There are also a few other usability problems but that is for a enhancement bug report.
Reassign version to 2.4.x so that individual 2.4 versions can be retired.
