GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 655666
Split task preferences into its own tab
Last modified: 2013-09-13 01:05:04 UTC
Edit > Preferences > Calendar and Tasks > Display Apart from the bustedness that the "General" tab also includes "Display" settings (plus Time rendering is split on both tabs), a first step to clean up this mess would be to move the "Task List" section to its own tab. There are only five tabs so far so even on my netbook a sixth one would be survivable. In short: Create a new tab called "Tasks" that includes the following three options that previously were under "Display": * Task due today * Overdue tasks * Hide completed tasks after Note to myself: Update tasks-display-settings in new user docs once this is fixed.
with my recent UI changes the Calendar and Tasks part has 6 tabs now, the sixth is Meeting invitations. Also, moving only tasks options on a separate page seems like not much gain, as the new tab will be mostly empty. What do you think? What I would suggest is to merge Free/Busy and Calendar Publishing under one tab, to save more space. What to call the new tab is a mystery, though. Maybe "Interoperability"? I do not know, it sounds strange.

Maybe > "Interoperability"? I do not know, it sounds strange. I like the idea, but we need a good name. "Publishing information"? Plus that still won't solve the original problem that "General" and "Display" both have options that are more or less similar. General > Time (AM/PM; Time zones) Display > Date/Time Format Display > General (e.g. "Time divisions" etc) General > Work Week General > Alerts Display > Task List

It can be used, sure. > Plus that still won't solve the original problem that "General" and "Display" > both have options that are more or less similar. Partly does, if you would like to add one more tab, then by the join you've it available for no cost of extra space.
Created commit a7840ef in evo master (3.1.90+)
Thanks! User docs updated accordingly: http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=3ff7a3b5b6c0789d63067f00ccb7a6ee79935574 http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/commit/?id=631f18b4b1358af85d91056e20c466b7cc26ac5f I'll file a separate ticket about the mess in "General" and "Display" that both list time settings, but that's 3.3 stuff.
