Test files a1 and b1

The attached test files a1 and b1 are different on line 2 but Meld reports that they are identical. (Their sizes are not even the same.)

Note that these files come from a (UNIX) tool that has a bespoke ASCII-compatible 8 bit text encoding, so one may suspect a language encoding issue. However:

1. The difference is spotted e.g. when the surrounding context is slightly different, e.g. when the first (blank) line is removed from both files.

2. I could file no combination of Preferences->Encoding and LANG env. var. that would make the difference become detected.

diff reports a difference.

Why did I ever try to support unicode newlines?

The culprit was the Unicode NEL character creating line split issues. The issue had already been fixed, but due to an oversight, the fix only worked for non-empty lines. The bug has been fixed in git HEAD. Thanks for your bug report.
