I can reproduce this on Fedora 15. The print preview in evince is just a white piece of paper.

$ rpm -q poppler evince
poppler-0.16.7-1.fc15.i686
evince-3.0.2-1.fc15.i686

duplicate of bug #653315 and duplicate of bug #647870?
Comment 6 Stephen Haffly 2011-11-05 21:30:46 UTC
This is also happening to me. However, I see the display of the document in the preview but the page turns out blank when I try to print to a Samsung ML-2510 Laser printer.

Just to see if it would work, I tried printing the same document page to my HP OfficeJet Pro A910. The page printed properly. This leads me to suspect that there is some essential difference in the way Evince interacts with the two printers which accounts for the different outcome.

Just as a reference I am using a Samsung FS1350-DN.

But I can reproduce by selecting the PDF printer in the evince print menu and then pressing the print preview ...
Comment 9 Stephen Haffly 2011-11-06 00:08:02 UTC
The HP is using hpcups and the Samsung is using foomatic/gdi. I don't know what the PDF printer is using. However, I tried the "print to file" option, selecting PDF, PS, and SVG options, and the preview worked on all three.
Comment 10 Andrey Gankov 2011-11-06 06:22:17 UTC
I tested again on openSUSE 12.1. And I can completely reproduce this issue. I see empty page in preview and as result of print when i use "HP Photosmart c5200 Series hpijs" or virtual printer for print to file. I tested to Evince 3.2.1 on openSUSE 12.1.
Comment 11 Stephen Haffly 2012-01-18 03:58:08 UTC
Same basic setup as in comment #7 above, but now I am running Fedora 16 with XFCE as my DE. Printing to the HP printer works fine. Printing to the Samsung ML-2510 printer still produces blank pages although the print preview still works correctly.

This is quite annoying. I have to go to Adobe Reader in order to print. The other PDF viewer options are less useful to me than Evince, but this printing problem limits the usefulness.

I'm not sure why this is still unconfirmed as it has been over 6 months since this was reported.

This compressed PDF file cannot be printed

Attached file can't be printed on Ubuntu 11.10 x64 with evince 3.2.1 & cairo 0.16.7

Generated postscript contains only punctuation marks.

I also confirm that file from comment #2 produces a blank page if printed from envince 3.2.1 on Ubuntu 11.10 x64
Comment 14 Germán Poo-Caamaño 2013-02-17 10:13:18 UTC
This seems to be fixed in Evince 3.7.5/poppler 0.22.1/cairo 0.12.14.

I can reproduce the bug with Evince 3.4.0/poppler 0.18.4/cairo 0.10.0, but it prints fine with the latest Evince/poppler/cairo.

If you can reproduce the bug with the same version or newer, please feel free to re-open this bug with additional information on how to reproduce it.
