GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 649045
Adding annotations is not easy
Last modified: 2015-06-28 10:50:06 UTC
The annotation feature is not very discoverable and it is not very pleasant/easy to use even for those who know that it's buried "in a particular view mode of the sidebar, in a tab, in a listview"... As we can presume that annotating is a useful and often-requested feature, I would suggest adding a button in the main toolbar to "Add an annotation".
+1 Annotations should be a click away at the most. I'm running the following version and annotations are still kind of hidden: evince-3.4.0-2.fc17.x86_64 Looking forward to annotation improvements :) Ankur
Totem's sidebars had the same problem. We added a menu item for each of the sidebars in the View menu so that they were better discoverable.
Annotations should actually be on the right click shortcut menu, so that I can annotate right at the spot that I desire. I really view this as more of a bug than a feature request. As it stands now, I must: 1) show side pane 2) choose annotations 3) expand (+) bar 4) remember what I was doing i the first place--oh damn, that thought is gone now!!! Most programs allow users to configure toolbars and shortcut menus--this would be helpful so that I could add it there myself.

I've just moved it from the sidebar to a new toolbar. We still need better icons, though.
