GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 648253
Add keywords for "Preferred Applications" to the System panel
Last modified: 2011-05-07 17:08:02 UTC
The reason I say this is because people would normally be searching for the new equivalent using the old terms. It will be an easier transition if the old terms for things point to the new areas. Also in addition typing default applications should bring up this dialog too.
Agreed. I think this would simply require adding "application;applications;preferred;default" to the list of keywords in the .desktop file. This was probably not done because originally the System panel didn't allow setting preferred apps.
application and default are already there. We can still add "preferred" though.

Thanks for the patch, and especially the very clear translator comment! ;-) Actually, it seems the Shell doesn't allow searching for keywords, that's why I thought "applications" and "default" were also missing. That's hard to spot, though, because many keywords are also present in the description, which is correctly searched. This is bug 609702.
