Description Giovanni Campagna 2011-03-14 21:59:39 UTC
While implementing the network indicator, I noticed that the following symbolic icons are missing in the theme:

- network-vpn-acquiring-symbolic: indicates that a VPN connection is activating, could be the network-vpn with three dots
- network-wireless-connected: indicates that a wireless connection is active, without exposing signal info (useful for example for adhoc, which is missing such data)
- network-cellular-connected: same as above, but for mobile broadband; will be used for example by bluetooth in PAN mode, when 3G signal is not available.

Maybe adhoc actually requires two icons, one when you are connected to this specific type of network (I would like this to remain similar to the signal strength one without indicating the strength) and one when you are sharing your connection?

If there are other uses for wireless-connected than adhoc, can you please explain what they are? I have added network-wireless-connected-symbolic.

For the cellular connected mode.. is that when you are connected to a cellular device through a bluetooth link ('tethering')? We do not currently indicate a linked state with the bluetooth symbol, but perhaps we should. And then NM would only show the connection type? GPRS/EDGE/3G/4G ..?

I have added network-vpn-acquiring-symbolic, network-wireless-connected-symbolic and network-cellular-connected in gnome-icon-theme-symbolic
