GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 643856
avimux not capable to sync audio and video back after transport stream disruption
Last modified: 2012-02-10 06:04:39 UTC
I have a transport stream with one video elementary stream and one audio elementary stream. Using transmageddon to try to convert this ( mpeg2 video , mpeg1 layer 2 audio) to avi file with AC-3 audio and Xvid video, somewhere when the transport stream has some erros, the result is that after the transcoding to avi , the video and the audio are out of sync with 2 seconds and they remain out of sync till the end of the file. You can hear that audio still goes on, while you see the video having troubles, so after the restoration of video again, it is not in sync anymore. I send the tes.ts original transport stream and the transcoded avi file. the error is just after having presented a sigarette to the 2 mans on the room.
Assuming there really is a disruption in the input file (and not some ts demuxer having a bad day), this could be handled by sprinkling some audiorate and/or videorate. So, moving to transmageddon.
Latest 0.20 release of Transmageddon plugins both audio and videorate by default. Please let me know if this release solves your issue.

Hi, I downloaded the tar.bz2 file, but I am not that of a Linux expert, I do not know how to install this package from the sources on. Can you provide me step-by-step instructions how to do this? Thx, Wolfgang Blaszczyk
It might be good to upgrade package if it's available in your distribution rather building yourself.
Please feel free to reopen the bug in case you can reproduce problem in latest transmageddon release.
