GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 643546
Need a new way to clear preedit
Last modified: 2018-04-15 00:18:33 UTC
Given that the following situations: 1) "Save" button on toolbar is pressed while preediting 2) "Erase all" button on toolbar is pressed while preediting In the case of 1, Korean input method wants to commit the preedit string (I've heard so from Korean people.), but some input methods (at least Japanese one) want to leave the preedit string as it is. So the behavior of case 1 depends on input method, but the behavior of case 2) should always clear preedit string. Unfortunately gtk_im_context_reset can not distinguish those situations. So we need a new method to do case 2), or case 1 if GTK+ thinks that gtk_im_context_reset is for case 2.
We're moving to gitlab! As part of this move, we are moving bugs to NEEDINFO if they haven't seen activity in more than a year. If this issue is still important to you and still relevant with GTK+ 3.22 or master, please reopen it and we will migrate it to gitlab.
As announced a while ago, we are migrating to gitlab, and bugs that haven't seen activity in the last year or so will be not be migrated, but closed out in bugzilla. If this bug is still relevant to you, you can open a new issue describing the symptoms and how to reproduce it with gtk 3.22.x or master in gitlab: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/new
