if both G_REGEX_MULTILINE and G_REGEX_DOTALL are set, ^ and $ do not match the start and end of a line. 

if only G_REGEX_MULTILINE is set it works as expected.

seems to show it working fine on my system. Please reopen if you have a testcase that demonstrates your problem.
