GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 640157
"meter" needs some explanation
Last modified: 2011-10-02 15:41:54 UTC
While translating the GUI, I've encountered the following string (and some similar ones): #: ../src/hydroelectric-activity/hydroelectric.py:169 msgid "This is the meter for electricity produced by the turbine. " It's ambigous what "meter" means. Is it a measuring device or a value of measurement? A "msgctxt" would be helpful here.
This "meter" here means the measuring device.
Created attachment 185343 [details] [review] Changed the lines where "meter" occurs which was ambiguous to the unit meter but actually described the measuring instrument meter. In the lines 169, 281, 288, 318, 340 The word 'meter'(instrument) occurs which was ambiguous with the measurement unit meter. This confused a lot of translators and people using the application. I have changed it by specifically mentioning that "the meter is used to measure.." thus depicting that it is a measuring instrument.
Ok, many thanks for pointing this out. Somebody may close this bug now.
Fixed in commit 7495337, added a translation helper.
