Totem resolution change

FACTS
======
I have an additional extern screen for my laptop. My laptop screen is on 1280x800 and my extern screen on (circa) 1900x1080.

Often when I open Totem (1), it makes my extern screen resolution equal with the laptopscreen. 1280x800 concentrated in the upper-left corner. It's difficult for me to explain, so I attach a screenshot : http://i54.tinypic.com/bijmug.jpg. The mouse can't go to the "big background" area (=upper left). So my screen is always 1900x1080 but i just can use the upper-left 1280x800 area.

(1) by double-left-clicking a video on nautilus

SPECULATION
===========
It may be a, automatically unwanted screen resolution change.
It may be a bug in nvidia-not-open drivers, but this problem happens just with Totem ....

My config :
Ubuntu 10.10
GeForce 8400M GS
nvidia-driver 260.19.06

What kernel are you using?

I have a similar issue - totem reactivating my disabled primary monitor.
It also affects gnome-screensaver or DPMS power save.

But I think this only happens with a fairly recent kernel, probably 2.6.36+ but at least 2.6.37-rc5 and 2.6.37-rc7.

My configuration: Debian unstable + experimental, Kernel 2.3.37-rc7, intel 915 graphics.

We removed the XvidMode support in GNOME 3.2. This means that any
resolution change wouldn't be Totem's fault anymore.
