GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 635618
Empathy does not reconnect on system resume
Last modified: 2018-05-22 14:28:19 UTC
After my system comes out of a power suspend state, Empathy will not automatically reconnect. Expected: Empathy notices that the system just came from suspension or hibernation and will automatically reconnect, avoiding the network error that usually appears.
Which distribution are you using? Are you using network-manager? When you reconnect, does NM reconnect to your network ?
Ubuntu 10.10. MM reconnects fine and all other network services work.
Could you please attach empathy logs? You can grab them from the help - debug menu.
I don't have this problem but am linking an orphaned Launchpad report. Someone's still having this problem with Ubuntu 11.04 (empathy 2.34) and Google Talk. Will ask for logs. ....actually, I can't seem to add a "see also" URL. Why is this? It's https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+source/empathy/+bug/662766 if anyone cares to add it for me since my obvious retardation is preventing me.
I'm also affected by that bug on Debian Testing with Empathy 3.2.1.1. mcd-DEBUG: notify_resume_cb: woke up! sleep_kind=suspend mcd-DEBUG: connectivity_monitor_nm_state_change_cb: New NetworkManager network state 20 (connected: false) mcd-DEBUG: connectivity_monitor_nm_state_change_cb: New NetworkManager network state 40 (connected: false) mcd-DEBUG: get_mcddbusprop: org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Account, RequestedPresence mcd-DEBUG: set_requested_presence: called for gabble/jabber/NAME mcd-DEBUG: set_requested_presence: setting requested presence: 1, offline, mcd-DEBUG: mcd_account_request_presence_int: Requested presence: 1 offline mcd-DEBUG: _mcd_connection_request_presence: Presence requested: 1 mcd-DEBUG: get_mcddbusprop: org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Account, RequestedPresence mcd-DEBUG: set_requested_presence: called for gabble/jabber/NAME mcd-DEBUG: set_requested_presence: setting requested presence: 1, offline, mcd-DEBUG: mcd_account_request_presence_int: Requested presence: 1 offline mcd-DEBUG: _mcd_connection_request_presence: Presence requested: 1 mcd-DEBUG: connectivity_monitor_nm_state_change_cb: New NetworkManager network state 70 (connected: true) mcd-DEBUG: on_transport_status_changed: Transport i love the internet changed status to 0 mcd-DEBUG: mcd_master_transport_connected: i love the internet mcd-DEBUG: mcd_account_would_like_to_connect: gabble/jabber/NAME does not ConnectAutomatically, and its RequestedPresence (1, 'offline', '') doesn't indicate the user wants to be online
Created attachment 201407 [details] Empathy window after resume. I need to manually set the status to available to reconnect.
Still doesn't reconnect to IRC after suspend/resume, in Empathy v3.4.2.3 as distributed in Ubuntu 12.04.2. network-manager reconnects fine and all other network services work.
Created attachment 239372 [details] Log upon resuming from sleep This is the log upon resuming from sleep, when the IRC channel fails to reconnect, using Empathy 3.4.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04.2. (Note: I have four accounts configured. The IRC account was enabled and a single IRC conversation was connected and active before sleeping; the other three accounts are disabled in the account configuration.)
I wasn't able to reproduce this in empathy 3.11.4 on ubuntu 13.10. Connects fine to all my accounts after waking up. Is there something I'm missing?
Same issue on openSUSE Gnome 3.14. Empathy won't automatically re-connect to Google Talk after being suspended. I'm attaching the log, but the timestamps in the log make no sense, I hope it's the right part of the log.
