Description Ryan Mansfield 2010-11-12 19:08:10 UTC
Configuring --without-tree no longer works as xmlreader.c now references xmlCopyDtd which is guarded with ifdef LIBXML_TREE_ENABLED. Introduced by the following change:

http://git.gnome.org/browse/libxml2/commit/?id=5b9dde3eed400ce54d5004e1bafd0097297a80ec

libtool: link: gcc -g -O2 -pedantic -W -Wformat -Wunused -Wimplicit -Wreturn-type -Wswitch -Wcomment -Wtrigraphs -Wformat -Wchar-subscripts -Wuninitialized -Wparentheses -Wshadow -Wpointer-arith -Wcast-align -Wwrite-strings -Waggregate-return -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-prototypes -Wnested-externs -Winline -Wredundant-decls -o .libs/xmllint xmllint.o ./.libs/libxml2.so -lz -lm
./.libs/libxml2.so: undefined reference to `xmlCopyDtd'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [xmllint] Error 1

Comment 1 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 13:20:56 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
