GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 634528
File Rename starts with extension selected
Last modified: 2010-11-12 10:31:41 UTC
One of the historical niceties of nautilus/gnome is the thought that went into 'little details' that made life easier for users. Once such niceness is the file renaming behavior, where, when renaming a file in nautilus by right clicking and selecting rename, only the part before the extension would be selected. As of the latest version, the entire filename is selected instead. Seems like a small thing (it is) but it's a shame to lose something nice. Steps to Reproduce: 1-Launch Nautilus 2-Right click on a file that has an extension, e.g. image.png 3-Select Rename Result: The filename becomes editable, with the entire filename (image.png) selected by default. What should happen: the filename becomes editable, with only the part of the filename before the dot (image) selected by default.
