I'd like to request a feature to randomize playback like "shuffle," but acting at the level of albums, rather than individual tracks.  (E.g. randomly select an album, play through all tracks in order, then randomly select another album, etc.)

This is especially useful for certain types of music: some albums have connected themes that are better enjoyed from start to finish (e.g. anything by Pink Floyd), and it is essential for classical music, since whole symphonies and operas are usually split into one track per movement/recitative/aria that really, really, really don't make sense on their own.  Setting up a playlist by hand loses the spontaneity advantage of the "shuffle" feature.  (I tend to select albums that I remember, when I'd rather be presented with what I've forgotten.)

On message boards, the usual response is to use some other music player that has the desired feature.  I've already tried quite a few and I like the organization of Rhythmbox the best (this one preference isn't enough to make me use Amarok, and I ran into troubles with Songbird no longer being supported for Linux, etc., etc.).  Besides, this is a pretty basic thing and should be easy to implement: depending on the organization of the code, it could possibly be just a little 10-line function.

Is it implemented by a plug-in?  I didn't see any.
