Description Dinar 2010-11-02 12:34:48 UTC
i reported this bug at ubuntu bug tracker: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/669882 , now report here, as suggested to me:

if you move "myfolder" from /home/user/dir1/ to /home/user/dir2/ , last modification times of all files in myfolder are preserved, also all that modification times are preserved when folder is copied to other directory including directory un other partition, but, if you move "myfolder" to other partition, for example, target folder can be named /mnt/sdb7/dir3/ , all files in "myfolder" lose their last modification times, and get instead of them the moving time.

target partition is ext3.

Same problem here...

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 hooked up via USB, and am trying to move files to a local disk mounted at /home.

I always want to retain modified time when moving files, even between different partitions.

(In reply to comment #1)

I also tried moving a folder, but modification time got changed for all files.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
