Description Laurent Bigonville 2010-10-21 11:35:02 UTC
Hi,

minimal-gtk shows a grey map and nothing else. minimal is working as expected.

Clutter: 1.2.12
Clutter-GTK: 0.10.4
(Running ubuntu maverick)
Comment 1 Laurent Bigonville 2010-10-21 11:38:49 UTC
Samething for launcher(-gtk) actually
Comment 2 Jiri Techet 2010-10-21 15:37:42 UTC
Are you on Maverick? I had the very same problem - my impression is that the version of clutter-gtk (0.10.4) in Maverick doesn't work with the shipped clutter version (1.2.12). I made several experiments compiling different versions of clutter-gtk manually some time ago:

* 0.10.4 - doesn't work
* 0.10.6 - works
* even compiling clutter-gtk demos from 0.10.4 tarballs and linking them against the system clutter-gtk (0.10.4) doesn't work

I wasn't sure if it was just me (because nobody has complained so far) but it appears to be a more general problem. As a workaround you can compile clutter-gtk 0.10.6 (and possibly 0.10.8 - I just haven't tested it) but this should be reported as a bug in Maverick.
Comment 3 Laurent Bigonville 2010-10-23 19:12:04 UTC
Ok I can confirm that it's working again with clutter-gtk 0.10.8
Comment 4 Laurent Bigonville 2010-10-23 22:54:27 UTC
It could be interesting to confirm this bug in debian unstable (looks like clutter{gtk} is (heavily) patched in ubuntu
Comment 5 Laurent Bigonville 2010-10-25 08:26:16 UTC
Looks like a bug[0] is already opened in ubuntu a workaround exists

setting the environment variable CLUTTER_VBLANK=none

Comment 6 Jiri Techet 2010-10-25 15:56:10 UTC
Thanks for the investigation. Regarding your previous comment, even though I haven't tested the debian unstable packages, the vanilla 0.10.4 built from sources doesn't work either. So I think this bug isn't caused by any specific Ubuntu patch.
Comment 7 Petr Tomasek 2010-10-25 16:56:19 UTC
I have the same problem with Fedora 14 (current beta) and Emerillon.
