Taking picture clips works great, however I have been unable to record video. I'm using a built-in webcam on a Gateway NV56 running Ubuntu 10.04. When I click to record the video, the screen goes black for a few seconds. When the picture returns, it's segmented into anywhere from 2 to 4 different sections and the application appears frozen. I click stop recording and after a short amount of time the program becomes completely unresponsive and I must force quit. Starting Cheese in the terminal gave me the following:
