GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 628222
Double-clicking on archive should extract it
Last modified: 2010-08-29 08:09:26 UTC
Currently, clicking on an archive opens file-roller. To extract an archive, one needs to right-click and select ›Extract Here‹. As the major use case for archives (mostly downloads) is extracting them rather than modifying files in them, this should be switched: Double-clicking (or clicking in single-click mode) should extract the archive (like on Mac OS). The right-click option for ›Extract Here‹ should be changed into something like ›Edit Contents‹, which would then launch file-roller.
Jan I think, this bug its almost the same than https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=628221 . so I will marc this as a duplicate
