Description Matthew Geier 2010-08-15 23:48:13 UTC
If you open up collections 'commented and tagged' with 2.10.x gthumb, your comments are lost as the 2.11.x appears to use different fields.

All my images have ITPC captions put there by gthumb 2.10.x on Ubuntu. When I open these collections all my captions get replaced by the name of my digital camera. I assume 2.11.x is using the EXIF description field (which was left untouched by gthumb 2.10.x) in preference to the iptc caption field which gthumb 2.10.x as left in all my images.

This would also imply that the 'exif description' field is being used in preference to the comment in the .comments XML field as well.

Please make the 'search for caption' configurable. In my case I want the itpc 'caption' field to be used in preference to any other field when 'importing' and image.

As things stand now, there is serious 'data loss' when you upgrade to the new version as all your 'comments' disappear.

there is no need to create a report with a solution for another bug
