Modifying the repeat rate for the keyboard capplet does not have any effect 
in the speed at which characters repeat on a keyboard. This is present in 
both solaris8 and redhat (ximians gnome desktop). Testing versions 1.5.8 
(solaris8) and 1.5.7 (ximian).

Is this similar to the bug I logged against the keyboard bell? Is this 
particular the the x-server in question?

i can verify that a march 6 build make ekyboard repeat not work.

after i ran the keyboard capplet key repeat is completely turned off!
