GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 618077
Changing fixed aspect ratio of rectangle selection tool crashes.
Last modified: 2010-05-09 15:56:03 UTC
If I select fixed aspect ratio, and try to change anything such as 4:6 GIMP crashes. If I select portrait or landscape GIMP crashes. I realy loved GIMP. But I used it to crop images to 4x6 or 6x4 by selecting an area at the aspect ratio needed then cropping then resizing to 300 dpi. GIMP used to do this well. Now its crashing out and I wish I hadn't upgraded. Cropping pictures to a desired size should be table stakes. Period.

Unfortunately I can easily replicate the problem 100% of the time. Just opened GIMP, selected File New, selected Ractangle Selection Tool, Check fixed aspect ratio, it shows 1:1, I type 4:6, and get; gimp-2.6.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I have Windows XP Pro, Version 2002, SP3, AMD Athlon XP 2800+. 2GB of Ram, 129GB Free space on disk. Uninstalling and reinstalling Gimp did not fix the issue. Download from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-win/files/GIMP%20%2B%20GTK%2B%20%28stable%20release%29/GIMP%202.6.8%20%2B%20GTK%2B%202.16.6/gimp-2.6.8-i686-setup.exe/download replicates the problem. Are there any settings that may affect this issue that I could change?
Gimp 2.4.7 works fine.
