Description Bob Mottram 2010-04-23 10:24:42 UTC
Release: Ubuntu 10.04RC
Rhythmbox: 0.12.8-0ubuntu3
Launchpad bug: 568883

When using Phidgets USB devices (www.phidgets.com), particularly the 8/8/8, I'm getting a lot of interference if Rhythmbox happens to be running in the background. With Rhythmbox running if I list the USB devices using lsusb often I cannot see one or more of the connected Phidgets. Also, with the Phidgets advanced servo controller connected and Rhythmbox running it looks like periodic stray commands are being sent to the servos. It looks as if Rhythmbox is periodically doing something strange with USB (perhaps trying to communicate with an ipod, or mistaking a Phidgets device for an ipod?) which is causing interference with other USB devices. The solution is to quit Rhythmbox, and all Phidgets devices then appear listed with lsusb and behave normally.

Ideally, Rhythmbox should not interfere or conflict with with connected USB devices.

Try disabling the rhythmbox MTP plugin.

Yes that fixed the problem! Thanks.
