GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 614759
Rendering profiles
Last modified: 2011-09-11 13:21:24 UTC
Looking at other programs like ogmrip, arista, transmageddon they all have easy to use profiles used for rendering. It would be great if pitivi could adopt some of their ideas and make it easier to to select sane options for ones output.
I thought of making this a duplicate of bug 432723, but it's a complete mess and it may be better to have a separate bug report, so here we go. See also http://wiki.pitivi.org/wiki/Rendering_Profiles Bug #353865 talks about letting the user create custom profiles.
The wiki page looks really great. However one category I feel is missing is "Media center" - ie. a resonably powerful machine hooked up to a television (most likely an HD flatscreen these days).. It would probably be a fairly high bitrate XviD or H.264 video (in SD or HD) with MP3 or AAC sound. It might be closely related to the Playstation 3 profile?
Do you expect this to be solved using the profile and new encodebin mechanisms in gstreamer (described in bug 627476 and bug 626550)?
This will be completed as part of Feroze's SoC project.
