GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 613902
Autosave files lost after quitting Evolution
Last modified: 2021-05-19 12:28:21 UTC
After quitting Evolution with Ctrl-Q, the ~/.evolution/.evolution/.evolution-composer.autosave-* files for the composer windows which were open when quitting are gone. (There's no prompt about saving drafts either, which is fine by me - I just want the autosave files to be preserved) This means that without precautions, any modifications made in a composer before quitting are lost. This is a regression from 2.28.x.
There have been a number of changes and fixes to the autosave code over the course of 2.29. Exactly which version are you using, please?
Yeah sorry, should have mentioned this before: It's 2.29.92.1. I don't see any autosave related changes since then on the gnome-2-30 branch.
Did patches from bug 617557 help here ?
(In reply to comment #3) > Did patches from bug 617557 help here ? No. Now I have the choice of discarding the messages or saving drafts for them, but in both cases the autosave files will be gone. I'd like to be able to quit without having to answer any questions, then have the autosaved messages restored next time I start Evolution.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in 3.30 or later?
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
