GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 612843
Gmail contacts don't work with a proxy
Last modified: 2010-09-06 07:04:47 UTC
When starting evolution with a global proxy in gnome I can't access my gmail addressbook. Below's the output of evolution-data-server's debug impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_BookFactory_getBook + google://xxxxxxxxx@gmail.com (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: e_book_backend_google_init (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: e_book_backend_google_set_mode => 0x13a3980 impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Book_open (0x13a3980) (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_init (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_construct_base_uri (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_construct_base_uri (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: e_book_backend_google_load_source (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_set_offline_mode (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_emit_auth_required (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: on_google_book_auth_required impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_BookFactory_getBook + file:///home/heluani/.evolution/addressbook/local/system => 0x7fbea8007b60 impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Book_open (0x7fbea8007b60) (process:22379): libedata-book-WARNING **: impl_GNOME_Evolution_Addressbook_Book_getBookView ((contains "x-evolution-any-field" "")) e_data_book_respond_get_book_view (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: e_book_backend_google_authenticate_user (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_connect_to_google (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: Authentication failed: Connecting to google failed due to 'Cannot resolve proxy hostname' (HTTP code 3) (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: e_book_backend_google_authenticate_user (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: google_book_connect_to_google book_view file uref (process:22379): libebookbackendgoogle-DEBUG: Authentication failed: Connecting to google failed due to 'Cannot resolve proxy hostname' (HTTP code 3)
Hi evreybody, I can confirm this on a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid) with evolution 2.28.3. It used to work like a charm in Jaunty with evolution 2.26.1. I didn't try with karmic. Stan
Does your proxy require authentication to operate? I'm asking because there was a bug #611539, where the authentication wasn't used for https queries, which is used with google calendar/contacts, so it might be the cause.
Mine did, although I don't work anymore for that University so I can't check if the patch for 611539 solved the issue. R.
OK, thanks, then I'm marking this as a duplicate of the bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 611539 ***
