GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 611850
nm-applet CA certificate file chooser should default to /etc/ssl/certs
Last modified: 2020-11-12 14:28:17 UTC
See the original downstream report at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-applet/+bug/529834. In short, a number of parts of the nm-applet UI use GtkFileChooserButtons to allow the user to select a CA certificate to use. This happens most notably when a user attempts to log onto a new WPA network or edit a saved connection. However, the default directory that the file chooser opens to is the user's home directory. It would make more sense to open it to /etc/ssl/certs instead, if that directory exists of course.
Seems like it will be hard to do with current GTK policies http://stackoverflow.com/a/14710828/5994170
bugzilla.gnome.org is being shut down in favor of a GitLab instance. We are closing all old bug reports and feature requests in GNOME Bugzilla which have not seen updates for a long time. If you still use NetworkManager and if you still see this bug / want this feature in a recent and supported version of NetworkManager, then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/-/issues/ Thank you for creating this report and we are sorry it could not be implemented (workforce and time is unfortunately limited).
