Description felipemoraesbr 2010-03-04 02:05:54 UTC
Gimp must make an artist life easier if it wants more artists joining. When you´re deleting layers in a particular order, for each deleted layer the layer viewer(usually to the right) sends you to the last selected layer( which can be at the bottom of the viewer). It should stay viewing the same layers it was viewing before, and it should not have any layer selected after the previous one was deleted. The default behavior is very annoying, as productivity decreases.

Also using the Ctrl key to select more than one layer to erase would make our life easier too.

I'm on the verge of closing this as INVALID since it's a suggestion to change how GIMP does things and not really a bug report, which means it needs to be discussed on gimp-developer, but I agree with it so I'll keep it open.
Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2010-03-04 08:07:35 UTC
There is always a selected layer and it would be rather dangerous to change this. It would certainly break assumptions all over the place, including plug-ins. So the suggested behavior can't be implemented and a discussion on the mailing-list is definitely needed.

The most annoying thing is just the viewer scrolling down if the last layer was there. Sorry about the wrong posting place, I thought here was the right place.
