Several people are missing the dual-screen background support that was dropped in 2.28. Here is a patch that brings it back as a new placement style. It depends on the gnome-desktop patch in bug 603551

If we can get a freeze exemption, and the change for gnome-desktop goes in, I guess this would be good to have in trunk.
