Description Omer Akram 2010-02-07 10:52:27 UTC
"Empathy will not attempt to connect to accounts in Karmic if the computer's network connection is a ppp connection, such as a blackberry tether. Empathy likely only recognizes network connections that are valid in network manager, which I believe is a bug."

Comment 1 Omer Akram 2010-02-07 12:45:14 UTC
at launchpad somebody proposed the workaround to be unticking /apps/empathy/use_conn in gnonf-editor.
Comment 2 Guillaume Desmottes 2010-02-09 11:24:33 UTC
Is "Enable network" enabled or disabled in network-manager?
Comment 3 Omer Akram 2010-05-24 17:03:30 UTC
Downstream comment:
"This happens regardless of the state of the "Enable networking" setting in nm-applet."

Comment 8 Guillaume Desmottes 2010-10-12 07:54:14 UTC
Is the connection supported by network-manager? Are you online from NM's point of view?
Comment 9 Fabio Durán Verdugo 2010-12-08 06:05:04 UTC

Comment 10 Omer Akram 2010-12-08 10:51:05 UTC
this happens if you are not using network-manager (gnome's) for connecting. e.g. if the user is using gnome ppp
Comment 11 Fabio Durán Verdugo 2010-12-08 15:26:41 UTC
