GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 606489
Task Bar: Minimized programs cannot get maximized after swichting to another surface
Last modified: 2020-11-06 20:19:42 UTC
When you minimize a program and switch to another surface you can not maximize this program anymore as long as you switch back to the previous surface (This bug exists for almost one year!). Steps to reproduce: 1) Open any program on any surface, e.g. mousepad 2) Minimize this program 3) Switch to another surface 4) Now click on the task of the minimized program. Usually the user should get back to the previous surface automatically and the minimized program should be maximized, but this does not work. Instead, the task only blinks. You can only maximize the program when you switch back to the surface where you minimized the program. (Seen on Arch Linux and Ubuntu Linux)
Are you using compiz or metacity?
I'm using Metacity (current version: 1:2.28.0-0ubuntu1)
To trigger this bug, the window list preferences have to be set to: - Show windows from all workspaces - Restore to current workspace The 1st preference is needed to actually perform these operations, the 2nd preference triggers the bug. With these settings, clicking a window from another workspace which is minimized, the only thing it does is blinking in the window list, the window can only be restored when I do it from the workspace the window is on. - gnome-panel 2.28.0 - metacity 2.28.0
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years. If you can still reproduce this issue in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/ Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
