"In GNOME Session 2.28 (Lucid Alpha 1) , user session starts without any window manager , i'm having to use the fusion-icon at every login and once i do a "reload window manager" , the window manager[compiz] works fine.

Attaching the output of "gconftool-2 --dump /desktop/gnome/session"

WORKAROUND: 

deleting "~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session" folder will allow the session to start normally.
