Description Szabó Péter 2009-11-16 07:55:19 UTC
I had 2 primary partitions on a disk, and I removed the 1st from within Windows 7. Then I enlargened it with GParted using version on the current SystemRescue CD, which means the empty space was BEFORE the NTFS partition. It finished in 3 hours, and after I rebooted to Windows, I realized that the partition size in Explorer is not correct. Disk Management shows correct, larger size, but Windows Explorer shows still the smaller size, which means it is full. From Ubuntu 9.10 same results, ntfs-3g shows incorrect size.
After the resizing procedure, Windows didn't ask me to CHKDSK, but I did it manually, it didn't help.
If I try to resize from Windows, it wants me to convert to dynamic disk, which I don't want to do. That's why I used GParted.
I did this with 2 disks, same results (260 GB and 320 GB SATA).

The "Round to Cylinders" option was checked in by default.

Yes, this issue has been identified. Please check https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=601574
The problem is on parted...
Some patched versions were released. Maybe you can try:
http://beta.sysresccd.org/systemrescuecd-x86-1.3.3-beta2.iso
or
GParted live 0.4.8-6 on
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted-live-testing/

Szabó, Steven's suggestion to use one of these patched versions is a good idea.

Your problem might be as simple as running a "Partition -> Check" from GParted when booted from one of these patched Live CD's.

If you are still experiencing a problem, please post the details of your particular situation in the GParted forum.
