GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 600747
Disable sounds when away or busy option
Last modified: 2018-12-27 17:51:56 UTC
The "Disable sounds when away or busy" option does not make a lot of sense IMHO: - busy: this is where I really don't want sounds, right. - away: this actually depends... for the manual away, I agree that it is similar to busy. But empathy also sets away on idle after a few minutes. So, if I left my desktop for TV in the next room, the desktop becomes idle but I am still VERY interested in incoming VOIP calls for example In short, the should still be sound notifications if being away as a result of being idle.
Some usuability input would be welcome here. :)
Hmmm, is there a good way to tell the difference between: a) idle because i've walked into the next room to make a cup of tea b) idle because i've had a flash of inspiration and and writing away at my genre defining novel c) idle because i'm watching a movie d) idle because i'm idly browsing the web and wouldn't mind being interrupted The micro behaviour of idle on away would be useful to know if it's possible to solve this solomonic problem.
Not really. The only thing we can check is the "Idle time" of the system.
