Description sam 2009-10-29 10:41:41 UTC
If I play Midge Ure "If I was" then my Rhythmbox volume control increase to (and beyond max).

If I click on the volume button, I can watch the slider increase all on its own. The sound keeps getting louder, even when the slide has reached max.

If I then play Feargul Sharkey "A Good Heart" the volume goes down to zero.

Sometimes I have to bring up the volume slide and slide it below max to help it, but then it goes down to zero all on it's own, I can't stop it! If I slide the volume back up, then it goes down again when I let go.

The Hollies "He Ain't Heavy" is also good for turning the volume down all the way.

You almost certainly have replaygain enabled. It is known to be broken. Set the gconf key /apps/rhythmbox/use_replaygain to false to disable it.

Yep that did it. I was looking all over the rhythmbox preferences to check for that.

Fancy having to use gconf-editor to be able to alter it (although presumably I used that to set it).

The old replaygain code has been removed, so this bug is obsolete.
