GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 596899
Live display freezes when no Effects are applied.
Last modified: 2010-08-09 00:20:25 UTC
When I open Cheese with no Effects turned on, it captures one frame and never updates the preview again. Images are still captured properly, and things work properly with any effects turned on. I'm using an Acer 5920 notebook. Intel graphics and a CrystalEye webcam which works normally elsewhere. Here's some CLI output... Cheese 2.28.0 Probing devices with HAL... *** Bug 597818 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Felix, Alan, do you see errors in the dmesg when cheese fails to start? I get things like: uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 2 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). uvcvideo: Failed to query (135) UVC control 2 (unit 2) : -110 (exp. 2). Which clearly look like driver problems.
I can reproduce this with ubuntu 9.10 and cheese from the repo, but not with cheese from git! my ouput is following: Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module": libcanberra-gtk-module.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Cheese 2.28.1 ** (cheese:7534): WARNING **: could not generate thumbnail for /home/felix/Videos/Webcam/2009-05-03-114725.ogv (video/ogg) Probing devices with HAL... Is this OBSOLETE then?
