GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 596138
Better tooltip for panel applet
Last modified: 2009-11-28 13:15:13 UTC
Created attachment 143858 [details] [review] tool tip text patch Usually tooltips are descriptive of what the application does. Instead gnote just displays the shortcut key. I have attached a small patch to provide a descriptive text instead. Please apply. Downstream bug report at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=525345
But by removing the shortcut you just remove something important.
None of the other applications I can spot have keyboard shortcuts in their tooltip. A short description of what the app does is what users seem to expect. I think when you hover over a app, you would rather click it instead of using shortcuts. However if you want it still, I suppose having it at the end of the description would be better than the current situation.
"Gnote Take Notes, link ideas and stay organized" looks too long for a tooltip. How does "Take notes (<shortcut key>)" sound?
Sure. A small description is better than none.
