GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 591546
Copying data to USB stick is very fast and then hangs on 100% for a very long time
Last modified: 2010-12-18 01:44:23 UTC
When you copy data to USB pendrive, the progress is almost instantly (or in a few seconds) up to 100%, where it waits for a very long time. Simply all of the copying operation is reported with progressbar showing 100%. This is firstly not very user friendly and secondly it clearly avoids the purpose of the progressbar. Copying data to USB stick should work in the same way as copying file from disk to disk, therefore show the real progress in time. See the attachment video please to get the idea.

I can report that I still have this problem in Nautilus 2.30.1, using Ubuntu 10.04.
