Please describe the problem:
Hello,
some keyboard layouts have the ^ key without the Shift modifier (such as the german one), so it doesn't work. The original report from http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=529286 follows:

If i want to use the exponential function, the key "^" (key over TAB at
german keyboard layout) no more works.

With Debian etch, it is possible to enter this key.
In lenny, pressing of key "^" has no effect.

Etch uses gcalctool version 5.8.25.
