Description Chris Jones 2009-07-30 12:14:29 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I have a Thinkpad which has a trackpoint (commonly called a "nipple") and also a touchpad. The touchpad is not very useful to me and just causes stray mouse events, so I prefer to disable this.

While I can do it in the BIOS or with xinput(1) it would be nice if I could do this via the mouse properties capplet.

I realise there have been problems before with people disabling the only input device they have connected, but presumably in the new XInput2 world it's much easier to introspect the system and we can make sure that at least one device is always enabled?

Does this happen every time?

disabling touchpads used to be an option, but seems to have disappeared.

Also I just had a quick look at the source and I'm not sure that it's using XInput2 anyway, so this might not be a quick fix, but at least bringing back the ability to disable touchpads would be nice.
