Please describe the problem:
using Ubuntu 64-bit Karmic Alpha3 2.6.31 linux kernels Brasero does not recognize any blank media, Even though I see a Blank DVD icon on the desktop.

sudo lshw -short shows that my dvd writer is:

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10

 SHELL=/bin/bash
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-4.22-generic
SourcePackage: brasero

Solved by installing gvfs-backends. I also removed existing libbrasero libraries by doing "sudo apt-get remove libbrasero-media0" but maybe it is not needed.
