GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 588437
gtk 2.17.3 causes dragging in firefox bookmarks sidebar to misdetect mouse position
Last modified: 2009-08-16 20:28:53 UTC
the bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398540 "Since updating to gtk 2.17.3, I observe weird behaviour in Firefox's bookmarks sidebar whilst dragging bookmarks. During a drag operation, Firefox believes the mouse is several rows higher on the screen than it in fact is. This may be observed in the highlighted drop target, and in where the bookmarks actually end up going if you do drop them. Rolling back to 2.17.2 avoids the problem."
the issue is still there in 2.27.4
I have the same regression since 2.17.3 (IIRC 2.17.2 was fine). It happens both in firefox 3.5's sidebar and in thunderbird 2.0's folder sidebar.
I can't really reproduce this with the current git version. Can someone else? If so, what exact versions of firefox etc are you using, and exactly how do you reproduce it?
Hi Alexsander: *If* the bug is reproducing, it's clearly exhibited by attempting to drag and drop a bookmark into a subfolder. I have reproduced it consistently with all gtk+ versions from 2.17.3 through to 2.17.7, using a variety of different Firefox 3.0.x and 3.5.x releases. Right now I'm reproducing it with Firefox 3.5.2. None of the git commits after 2.17.7 sound like they would affect this, but if you really want, I could attempt to test git master - or, if it's convenient for you to do so, could you test 2.17.7?
the git version still has the issue using firefox 3.5.2, open the bookmark dialog and try to dnd something from the right to the left pane and see the line being out of sync with the selection and cursor
the issue is also there in thunderbird
Ah, yes, i can reproduce this in the bookmarks *dialog*, but not in the bookmarks *sidebar* (as specified in the original description).
the bug was reported while 3.5 was not there yet I think and the previous version had the issue in the sidebar too, the new version seems to have changed something
the 3.5 bookmark toolbar still do it in fact there weird
(using the current git version)
Weird. I *do* experience the bug in the bookmarks *sidebar*, with 3.0 and 3.5.
